Rules and Guidelines
Our community is built on camaraderie, adventure, and fun, and we strive to ensure that every member has a positive and inclusive experience. To keep HJP a welcoming and supportive space, we have a few rules and guidelines that everyone is expected to follow. These rules are in place to foster respect, teamwork, and a sense of belonging—both in and out of the game.
Please take a moment to review the guidelines below. By participating in HJP, you agree to uphold these values and contribute to an environment where everyone feels valued and safe. If you have any questions or concerns, our team is always here to help!
General Rules and Guidelines
Welcome to the HeatherJustPlay community! To keep this community a fun and safe place for everyone, please follow these rules:
Be Respectful - Treat everyone with kindness. No hate speech, harassment, discrimination, or bullying will be tolerated.
No Spam or Self-Promotion - Avoid posting spam or irrelevant content in the channels.
Keep Content Appropriate - Avoid NSFW or offensive content. We aim to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere.
No Illegal Activity - Do not discuss or engage in illegal activities.
Respect Privacy - Do not share personal information (yours or others’) without consent. Respect everyone’s privacy.
Follow Moderator Instructions - Moderators are here to ensure the server runs smoothly. If a moderator asks you to stop doing something, please comply.
3rd Party Modifications - As per Square Enix's policies, distributing third party tools on this server is strictly prohibited.
Parsing - There is zero tolerance on parsing your fellow players or discussing parses in this server.
FFXIV Screenshots - You may post screenshots containing modified content (poses, clothing, etc.) as long as they follow the above rules.
Note: Breaking these rules may result in warnings, temporary mutes, kicks, or bans, depending on the severity. If you have any questions about the rules, feel free to reach out to a moderator.
Zero Tolerance Policy
To maintain a safe and welcoming environment, certain behaviors will result in immediate removal from the community without warning. This includes:
Any comments or jokes of a sexual, inappropriate, or suggestive nature.
Hate speech, threats of violence, or any form of harassment that goes beyond standard moderation measures.
Deliberate attempts to disrupt the community or make others feel unsafe.
These rules apply to all community spaces, including in-game chats, Discord, and any related platforms.
NSFW Policy
This community is a safe and inclusive space for everyone. To maintain that environment, we have a strict no NSFW (Not Safe For Work) policy across all platforms, including Discord and in-game chats. This includes:
Sexual Content: No sexually explicit or suggestive comments, jokes, or media.
Graphic or Violent Content: No images, videos, or discussions containing excessive violence, gore, or other disturbing material.
Inappropriate Topics: Avoid discussions or jokes involving sensitive topics that could make others uncomfortable.
This policy applies to all channels, direct messages within the server, and in-game interactions involving community members. Any violations may result in an immediate warning, mute, or removal depending on the severity.
If you’re unsure whether something is appropriate, err on the side of caution or check with a moderator.
Spoiler Policy
Our goal is to create a friendly and enjoyable environment for everyone, whether you’re new to FFXIV or a veteran of the game. To keep our discussions open but respectful of everyone’s experience, here’s our approach to spoilers.
Story and Plot Details: Avoid sharing story-specific spoilers in open channels without proper spoiler tags and a clear warning. This includes key plot twists, character fates, and any other narrative points that could impact someone’s experience of the story. If you would like to discuss story moments or characters, go to the roles channel and select the @Spoiler role. This will give you access to #ffxiv-spoilers.
What's NOT Considered a Spoiler
General Game Content: Things like item names, mounts, gear, and titles are fair game, as they are visible in the game world and not tied to specific story events.
Duty Names: The names of duties (like “Storm’s Crown”) are typically fine to mention without tags, as they don’t directly reveal story elements. However, avoid using duty names that themselves reveal a major plot point.
Zone Names: Zone names are also fine to mention openly. However, be cautious with zones that could hint at plot details.
When in Doubt, Use a Spoiler Tag: We understand that knowing what’s a spoiler can sometimes be a bit subjective, so if you’re unsure, please use a spoiler tag just to be safe.

Photo & Screenshot Policy
By participating in the HeatherJustPlay Discord server, you acknowledge that any screenshots, comments, or shared moments within the community may be used in YouTube videos, social media posts, or other content to showcase and promote the HJP community.
Our goal is to highlight the fun, magic, and camaraderie that make HJP special!
Here’s what you should know:
Consent & Notification: Whenever possible, members will be informed when a screenshot or photo is being taken. By choosing to remain in the area (in-game or in voice chat), you are granting consent to be included.
Respect & Context: We aim to represent our community positively and respectfully. We will never share private messages or sensitive information.
Attribution: Whenever possible, we’ll give credit for contributions (e.g., Discord usernames in screenshots), unless requested otherwise.
Opt-Out Option: If you prefer that your comments or screenshots not be shared, please contact a moderator, and we’ll be happy to respect your wishes.

Streaming & Recording Policy
To ensure that all members feel comfortable while playing, chatting, and participating in events, we have a few guidelines regarding streaming and recording within the HJP community.
Streaming & Recording Gameplay
Members are welcome to stream or record gameplay, but express consent must be obtained from all participants each time a new session begins.
Please disclose where the video or stream will be shared (e.g., YouTube, Twitch, Discord) and whether it will be public or private.
If someone does not wish to be recorded or streamed, please respect their request and adjust accordingly.
If you are not comfortable speaking up, please direct message the event host or raid organizer.
Recording Discord Voice Chats
If you plan to record a voice chat in Discord, you must notify everyone in the channel and receive express consent from all participants before recording begins.
Consent is required from all participants in the voice chat.
Just like with gameplay recordings, please share where the recording will be posted and if it will be public or private.
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in moderation actions to maintain a respectful and comfortable environment for everyone.

3rd Party Modifications & Unauthorized Tools
The HJP community follows Square Enix’s policies regarding third-party tools and modifications. To keep our community in line with FFXIV’s Terms of Service, the following rules apply:
No discussion, promotion, or distribution of third-party mods. This includes but is not limited to plugins, UI enhancements, graphical modifications, automation tools, and any other unauthorized software.
No sharing links, instructions, or resources for obtaining, installing, or using mods. Even indirect references to where they can be found are not allowed.
No discussion of how to circumvent game restrictions, modify game files, or alter gameplay in any unauthorized way.
No advocating for or defending the use of third-party mods. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but HJP maintains a strict no-mods policy in all discussions.
Parsing & Performance Tracking
What is parsing? Parsing refers to using external tools to track and analyze combat performance, such as DPS (damage per second) or HPS (healing per second).
There is zero tolerance for parsing discussions or posting parse results. Do not share logs, discuss another player’s performance, or reference DPS/HPS numbers in this server.
No use or discussion of any tools that track player performance, even if used privately.
FFXIV Screenshots & Modified Content
Screenshots containing modified content (poses, clothing, etc.) may be shared, but with limitations:
The image must be appropriate and align with the community guidelines.
There should be no mention of the mod used to create the content.
Screenshots that could encourage the use of mods (e.g., showcasing exclusive mod-only gear) may be removed at a moderator’s discretion.
Enforcement
Any violation of these policies will result in a warning. Repeated violations or blatant disregard for these rules may lead to removal from the server.
HJP is a community that values fair play and respect for FFXIV’s official guidelines. If you’re unsure whether something is allowed, assume it isn’t and ask a moderator privately.
HJP Member Departure & Reapplication Policy
(Adopted Q4 2025)
Purpose
This policy exists to provide clarity and consistency when a member of HeatherJustPlay (HJP) chooses to leave the community and later wishes to return. Its goal is to protect the safety, integrity, and culture of the community while honoring HJP’s mission of personal growth through play.
Voluntary Leaves
Members who depart the community on good terms (for personal, scheduling, or mental health reasons) are always welcome to return. No cooldown period or reapplication vote is required.
If the member held a volunteer or leadership role (Officer, Moderator, or Crew Lead), reinstatement to that role is not automatic and will depend on current organizational needs.
Resignations Under Conflict or Disciplinary Review
If a member resigns during or immediately before an investigation, reprimand, or leadership conversation about their behavior, the following applies:
Cooldown Period: The member must wait at least 30 days before submitting a reapplication.
Extended Cooldown: If their departure involved repeated conflicts, harm to other members, or violation of community guidelines, the cooldown extends to 60 days.
Reapplication Review: After the cooldown, the member must reapply through the standard application process and will be reviewed by the Officer Team.
Decision Process: A majority Officer vote determines whether the member may return.
Accountability: If the previous issues involved harm or misconduct, the applicant must acknowledge and take responsibility for those actions before rejoining. The goal is not punishment but demonstrated personal growth.
Permanent Removal
Any conduct that violates HJP’s zero-tolerance policies (including but not limited to hate speech, harassment, or inappropriate sexual comments) will result in permanent removal from HJP spaces. Such individuals are not eligible for reapplication.
Documentation and Transparency
To maintain transparency and consistency within the leadership team, all moderation or reapplication decisions should be lightly documented by the moderators. This documentation is not intended to monitor or “keep tabs” on members, but rather to ensure clarity, fairness, and continuity across volunteer transitions.
Moderators are responsible for keeping brief internal notes summarizing:
The nature of the situation (e.g., behavioral concern, reapplication request).
Actions taken (e.g., warning issued, discussion held, cooldown applied).
Outcome and follow-up (e.g., resolution, officer vote result).
These notes should be stored privately in the designated Mod Log Google document made accessible only to current Officers and Moderators. The purpose is to preserve institutional knowledge, not to police members, and to help ensure that all decisions align with HJP’s mission.
Alignment With Mission
The heart of this policy is to protect what makes HJP special: a safe, supportive, and empowering space for adults to grow through play. Members who choose to return after time away should do so with renewed commitment to HJP’s values of respect, openness, and curiosity.
